Oaxaca prosecutor: APPO killed Brad Will

Speaking at a press conference with state police criminologists and foresnics experts, Oaxaca Prosecutor General Lizbeth Caña Cadeza, said there is growing evidence that Indymedia cameraman Bradley Will was killed at point-blank range by supporters of the Popular People’s Assembly of Oaxaca (APPO) as a “deceitful confabulation” to “internationalize the conflict” in the state.

APPO leader Flavio Sosa Villavicencio said his organization will “name a commission” to launch its own investigation into the murder. (E-Oaxaca.net, Nov. 16) At a press conference in Plaza de Santo Domingo, APPO insisted that when Will’s body was turned over to the state forensics team, it had only one bullet wound, not two as asserted by Caña. APPO leader Marcelina Coaché said the “intellectual authors” of the slaying should be “punished with the full weight of the law,” and named Gov. Ulises Ruiz as a likely suspect. (Televisa, Nov. 18)

Adittionally, El Universal reports that the FBI is sending its own team to Oaxaca to investigate the slaying. (Lo Ultimo, Nov. 16)
