Lower East Side anti-war activists and underground press jouralists might also be interested in marking the 40th anniversary of the 1968 Columbia Revolt and Police Riot, since Lower East Side-based anti-war activists and underground press journalists (like Abbie Hoffman and the Yippies, Ben and the Motherfuckers, and Jeff Shero and RAT underground press journalists, etc.)participated in the occupation of campus buildings, helped harden the resistance to Columbia's complicity with U.S. imperialism inside the occupied buildings, and were beaten and arrested by the NYC cops during the first of two New York City police riots at Columbia in 1968.
