Of the four images of the prophet on the Wikipedia page, three are Persian (and thence Shi'ite), with the fourth Ottoman in a very Persian-influenced style. So this is really an anti-Shi'ite thing. The Shi'ites do not share the proscription on images of the prophet. And while the Ottomans were not Shi'ite, they are perceived by today's Sunni fundamentalists as tainted by the apostasies of liberalism, tolerance, etc.
Get over it guys. The universal suppression of centuries of quite exquisite Islamic art is not happening. Sorry.
The inconvenient facts and unanswered questions surrounding the attacks are legion, but the endemic sloppiness of the self-styled "researchers" is delegitimizing the entire project of critiquing the "official version." The ostentatiously named "Truth movement" is not clearing the air, but muddying the water.
